Hand balancing is one of the crown disciplines of the circus. It can be performed on handstand canes or directly on the floor. This discipline requires strength, flexibility, great precision, and deep concentration.

Definition: "Balance is a state in which a body is subjected to opposing forces that compensate for one another (the opposite of imbalance, which can lead to a fall!)."

In a circus context, hand balancing is a choreography performed in an inverted position, on the hands, where the body is challenged to maintain equilibrium. The goal is to reach a state of stability and a harmonious physical and visual arrangement, achieved through the precise alignment of lines, masses (legs, arms, shoulders, hands, back), and the play between shapes and negative space.

HAND BALANCING ACTS (ON CANES)

My hand balancing acton canes is not fixed; it is designed to adapt to specific requests and the artistic context of each project. I continue to refine my technique and expand my movement vocabulary to offer directors a wide range of creative possibilities. Explore the various videos below to see my work in different settings.

Would you like to receive a full video of one of these hand balancing acts, along with the technical rider?

This act can be adapted, modified, or customized. Quentin is available to work with choreographers or to meet specific creative requests to suit your needs.

WHYHAND BALANCING ?

For as long as he can remember, Quentin has spent his life on his hands.

As a child, I challenged myself to stay upside down for as long as possible, or I created balance courses with obstacles. Every time I watched a cartoon, I would get into a handstand position on the sofa.

A tendency to invert perspective and to feel 'right-side up' where others see you as 'upside down'.
