Horizon Palais Royal – Cie l'Oublié / Raphaëlle BOITEL

On the roofs of the Royal Palace in the heart of Paris, I had the honor of opening the acrobatic ballet « Horizon » of the lost by Raphaëlle Boitel, within the framework of theolympiade cultural for the Olympic Games in Paris in 2024.

Horizon is an open-air acrobatic ballet gathering a florilege of circus artists, dancers and sportsmen from moving art (Parkour) coming from different horizons and universes but united and welded to offer a unique, poetic and acrobatic show. In the constant search for the thrill, the goal was to debunk between risk and emotion, while working on the synchronization of moving bodies.

From below, the audience observes the spectacle against plunged, forced to raise their heads towards the sky, as a remedy to the anxiety of the screen that grabs daily all our attention and prevents us from dreaming.

From above, our line of sight: the horizon. Observing the horizon is imagining the infinite field of possibilities, it is taking the risk of dreaming, it is risking to live.

After two weeks of intensive rehearsal, I opened the show 5 times with a cane balance number on Max Richter's powerful music « Spring 2 ». At more than 20 meters high, it was impressive to have to overturn me on my hands, but I was wonderfully accompanied and directed, which helped dispel the fear of emptiness, tremors and thus the risk of falling..!

For each of the performances the audience was present in numbers! Until the columns of Buren were almost invisible from our point of view.

Thanks to the forgotten company, to the entire technical and administrative team, to Raphaëlle and Tristan in the lead, and to the Ministry of Culturehaving allowed such a project, on the roofs of the world !
